WYC Leadership Teams

We operate through six dedicated subgroups, each focused on a specific aspect of youth development and community engagement.

Upper Managment

(Co-President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer) Upper Management provides the overall leadership, strategic direction, and governance of WYC. They oversee all teams, manage finances, coordinate meetings, and represent the organization to the public and partner organizations. Together, they ensure WYC operates effectively and remains financially stable in pursuit of its mission.

Education

The Education team drives WYC's educational impact by managing the Amazon Wish List for Wegene's Knowledge Center in Ethiopia and running the annual Poetry Contest. They also plan and execute a College Networking Day to connect WYC members with college and career opportunities. The team collaborates across departments to support any additional events and initiatives that advance WYC's educational mission.

Fundraising

The Fundraising team develops and implements strategies to secure the financial resources WYC needs to carry out its mission. They build and maintain relationships with donors, run fundraising campaigns and events, and track overall fundraising performance. The team works closely with other departments and the treasurer to ensure funds are properly managed and aligned with organizational goals.

Communications

The Communications team is responsible for producing WYC's monthly newsletter and bi-monthly blog from September through June. They develop compelling stories, recruit writers from within WYC's membership, and ensure content is published and distributed on time. Through consistent and engaging content, they keep members, supporters, and the community informed about WYC's work and impact.

Media & Marketing

The Media & Marketing team manages WYC's digital and social media presence and relationships with traditional media outlets to promote the organization's mission. They develop comprehensive marketing strategies, create advertising materials, and ensure a minimum of weekly social media activity, with daily activity leading up to events. The team collaborates with all other departments to make sure WYC's message and branding are consistent and effectively communicated across all channels.

Community Outreach

The Community Outreach team focuses on growing WYC's membership and managing the Tesfa "Hope" Campaign, which sponsors children's education in Ethiopia at $360 per child per year. They promote sponsorships, maintain up-to-date sponsor lists, and send thank-you letters and updates to donors. The team also actively works to expand WYC's reach through community engagement and membership recruitment.
